The Last Passanger of the Cyre 1313, the half-vampire Tristen ApBlanc, Tristessa the banshee, ghost pirate Pietra van Riese, The Headless Rider, as well as Kas the Bloody Handed (and Vecna himself). Charecters like Lord Soth (Death Knight, technicaly no longer in the Domains but you can play with time and have him), the lich Azalin Rex (disapeared from his own domain and setting it into turmoil), Pharaoh Ankhtepot (Mummy, powerful intermediary with his gods), Ramya Vasavadan (Death Knight), and Lord Wilfred Godefroy (Ghost Aristrocrat) who are other Dark Lords in the Domains have extremly vested reasons to want Strahd out of the picture. If you don't want to use streight Curse of Strahd charecters, feeling they might break story flow, you can also get some good options from Van Richten's and the other sections of the Domains of Dread. Or Perhaps Sir Godfrey the Revenent or Sir Kutz the Phantom warior. Another good option is Exethanter, the lich. Obviously Strahd himself, though this could provide conflicts later in the series (great if you want to really double down on the social aspect but not so great if you want to focus on the core cannon of CoS). And while that service could get more and more onerous as time goes on, initially it could be all about having someone in Barovia to pester Strahd. If you are thinking of branching out into wider Ravenloft content, I'd recommend against having a "Dark Power" be the patron. Curse of Strahd changes somethings which are changed back in Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft and some not. Depends on how into the Ravenloft lore (past and present) you want to get into. ![]()
